V-Sport are delighted to have a new team member on board. For the next two weeks, Jack from Loyola Trade Training Centre will be joining Todd and Mick in the workshop, as part of his automotive work experience placement.
At 16, Jack is convinced a career in the automotive industry is for him, undertaking a specialized automotive training course, allowing him to be better prepared for a career in the industry when he finishes school. He says he has been looking forward to coming the the V-Sport workshop, being well aware of the caliber of cars and work we produce.
“I have done placements at IVECO and a BP service centre before this, but those places didn’t have any race cars. I am looking forward to seeing how things are different on race cars, and helping the guys with all the builds going on at the moment,” says Jack.
Jack couldn’t have chosen a better time to come to the workshop, with plenty of project builds underway. At present,V-Sport’s workshop is building a Toyota 86 and Nissan Silvia for the race track, along with a Datsun 1600 street car restoration. There’s also three time attack Evos, two rally Evos and a VL Commodore under maintenance.
Which one is his favourite?
“The 1600. It’s really cool, and I’ve always loved 1600’s,” says Jack.
Whilst Jack can’t independently work on a car during his time here, he will be assisting Todd and Mick in everything from roll cage fitment, to gearbox changes, learning all he can along the way. This morning, Jack helped Mick remove the turbo on a Mistubishi Lancer Evolution X, before installing new fuel lines on an Evolution VIII this afternoon.
We’ll be checking back with Jack throughout his two weeks, though we think he will fit right in…
