Following last years’ track debut with the Nissan VK56DE engine, V-Sport’s flagship vehicle ‘Timmy86’ has started 2018 strong with appearances on track at SMSP, Phillip Island and Winton Raceway.
Kicking off with testing at Sydney Motorsport Park, following some aero and suspension tweaks to improve overall handling and ability to get power to the ground. The wet weather added some intensity to the test session, check out some footage below made with the new GoPro FUSION 360 camera and OverCapture software.
Next on our race calendar was VIC Time Attack, set on the iconic coastal circuit of Phillip Island! Following the same format as the iconic World Time Attack Challenge, VIC Time Attack is a great opportunity to get a feel for the competition and evaluate preparation, with just 6 months before the world’s best throw down at WTAC. At the end of the event, we placed 3rd in modified class behind Nathan Morcom in the Global Aircraft Sevices EVO 9, and TIMMY86 brought home the title of Fastest RWD on track. The team at FullBOOST were kind enough to spend some time with us and shoot the following feature – turn up the volume!
We also have some in-car footage on YouTube.
Most recently, DriftCadet hosted the annual 86 Festival at Winton Raceway in Victoria. Celebrating the legacy of the 86 chassis in all its’ forms, the event attracted cars from across the country for on-track action, show ‘n’ shine and more. We competed in the SuperSprint event and came away fastest on the day with our fastest lap of 1:24.6.

Aside from racing, there was plenty of 86 spirit to get involved in with so many unique examples of the 86, AE86, AE71, KE70 and BRZ platforms, and a special guest appearance from Japan’s Hiroshi Takahashi. At the end of the day, we all lined up on the main straight of Winton for this group shot!
