A Tough Weekend’s Racing in Barbagallo // Stilo Leaderboard

/A Tough Weekend’s Racing in Barbagallo // Stilo Leaderboard

Three rounds into what has been a rollercoaster Supercars season to date, and the Perth SuperSprint saw tempers and talents flare on track and off it last weekend in Barbagallo. Though despite plenty of controversial chatter following the event, Race 7 & 8 went off without a red flag and highlighted drivers’ like Craig Lowndes who shone in the face of adversity.

Starting from the rear of the grid in Race 8 due to an electrical fault, Lowndes fought all race to gain positions, before being sent off-track while attempting to pit; nudged by Alex Russo in what Craig identifies as a less-than-ideal pit lane entry location. Regardless, the Triple 8 Racing car finished in 8th position and set the second fastest race lap in the process, backing up his 7th place result in Race 7.

Lowndes was only bested on the Stilo Leaderboard by Mark Winterbottom, who attained 5th and 4th place respectively in the weekend’s races and is clearly on form moving into round 4 at Winton in just over a weeks time. Top 10 results across the weekend leaves Garth Tander in a comfortable 7th place on the Coates Hire Leaderboard, between Winterbottom (7th) and Lowndes (8th). This makes for 3 Stilo Althletes in the Overall Top 10, and just 13 places separating all our drivers in Stilo Helmets inside the top 20. See how they compare below.

Finished in 4th place today. We lost a bit of rear grip in that race, overall we made gains with the car this weekend and have a direction. I’m happy with our progress and looking forward to Winton.

1 Mark Winterbottom 6 648
1 Garth Tander 7 606
1 Craig Lowndes 8 564
1 Tim Slade 12 468
Todd Kelly 14 436
James Courtney 15 429
Lee Holdsworth 17 426
Will Davison 19 351

A disappointing result of 22nd place for James Courtney of the Mobil 1 HSV Team, have yet to put it all together and will be revisiting the drawing board this week, hoping to iron out some creases in time for the Winton Supersprint to retain their 6th place position in the team leaderboard.

I got nothing….

And on that note, we look forward to a fresh round of racing at Winton from May 19 – 21, and leave you with this 360° GoPro hot lap of Barbagallo Raceway by Craig Lowndes.

Thanks, Perth! Tour Barbagallo one last time with Craig Lowndes in the GoPro 360 Lap. #VASC
