Straight from the #BrakeNerds bench at V-Sport, here’s an AP Racing brake kit we put together.
Destined for an R33 Nissan Skyline
— AP Racing Pro5000R Brake Calipers —
The forged 2-piece design of the Radi-Cal brake caliper offers increased stiffness over cast items, providing improved pedal stiffness for the driver. Stainless-steel pistons help insulate the brake fluid from excessive temperatures created at the pad/disc interface, further improving pedal feel during sustained sessions. Users will also benefit from the anti-corrosive properties of the stainless material and longevity of stainless pistons. Internal porting gives a clean aesthetic and eliminates the risk of bridge pipe damage to the caliper.
— AP Racing J-Hook Brake Discs —
We’ve used previous generation V8 Supercar-spec discs for this brake kit. The AP Racing ‘J-Hook’ face provides maximum bite, with a 72-vane disc design that offers improved cooling when compared with traditional pillar-vane disc designs. The floating disk allows radial and axial float between the disc and hat, reducing stresses that cause cracked and distorted brake discs, while also reducing the effects of pad knock-off.
— Finishing Touches – Lines, Pads & Fluid —
This kit is complete once we add AP Racing R3 Brake fluid, which is race-ready for temperatures up to 325°C (dry boiling point). Stainless Braided Brake Lines by Goodridge further improve pedal feel. HAWK Performance brake pads in a DTC 70 compound provide a high level of bite over a very broad range of temperatures, while still being kind to discs.
The brake system is comprised of:
